Course Overview/Statement of Need
The NCDR is the recognized resource for measuring and quantifying outcomes and identifying gaps in the delivery of quality cardiovascular patient care in the United States. Participants in the NCDR registries need to improve their knowledge and competence regarding their participation in and use of the NCDR registries in order to improve the quality of cardiovascular patient care in their facilities.
The agenda and handouts are available to you here. When you review the agenda, click on a registry of interest (or IPP track) and on each numbered session to see a detailed description and learning objectives. When you register, you can select workshops based on your interest and expertise. You’ll also select the general sessions you wish to attend, which are designed to be of interest to all conference registrants.
Participate in Q&A and Polling during Conference
- Using your mobile device, open the NCDR.18 app OR navigate to ncdr18.cnf.io
- Click the Session you’re attending
- Click the ‘Ask’ button to submit a question for Q&A, and vote for Q&A questions you like by clicking the arrow next to that question.
- If your Session has Polling, respond to a Poll when it appears on your screen and click "Submit"
Download the NCDR.18MOBILEAPP from the App store and complete the session and poster ratings on site. This will greatly shorten your post-conference evaluation.
CME/CNE Credit and Evaluation
Your feedback from this American College of Cardiology (ACC) educational course will help us to better target ACC educational initiatives and efforts to support you and your future learning needs. In order to receive your CME/CNE certificate or certificate of participation, complete the following two steps in sequential order within one month of the conference:
Step One: Submit your poster and session ratings, in real time, using your NCDR.18 mobile app.
- For posters – go to the ‘posters’ icon found on the NCDR.18 app home page or main menu survey option.
- For sessions – go to the session in the NCDR.18 mobile app or use the main menu survey option.
Step Two: After the conference you will receive an email with a link to answer additional NCDR.18 conference questions.
We strongly recommend that you submit your evaluations and credit claims within ONE month, but you must complete them within three months of the course. Credit-claiming will not be available after that time.
If you do not receive an email with the link to the evaluation survey soon after the conference, or if you have questions, please contact the NCDR Service Center at 800-257-4737 or email ncdr@acc.org,or contact the Education Department at assessments@acc.org.
Once you’ve completed steps 1 -2 you will receive your CME/CNE certificate or certificate of participation.
American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT)
An application is pending for NCDR.18 to be an ASRT-approved activity. If you would like to receive ASRT Continuing Education (CE) credit, you must pick up a form from the onsite Registration Desk to log your hours then return it at the end of the conference.
You must also complete a brief evaluation survey online that we will send to you by email after the conference concludes. If you do not receive an email with the link to the evaluation survey soon after the conference, or if you have questions, please contact the NCDR Service Center at 800-257-4737 or email ncdr@acc.org,or contact the Education Department at assessments@acc.org.

Goals and Learner Objectives
The overall goal of this course is to enhance the knowledge and competency of NCDR professionals to enable them to effectively translate data into quality improvement.
Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Exchange experiences of real-world quality initiatives during the certified poster presentation and networking sessions
- Identify resources for navigating challenging questions that help interpret clinical scenarios and, in turn, improve data entry accuracy
- Apply tools and techniques that help teams effectively use registry data for quality improvement efforts
- Promote improved documentation accuracy and completeness by recognizing and articulating its impact on hierarchical risk models, as well as the relationship between guideline practice and risk models
- Identify the methodology and purpose of AUC as it is applied through the NCDR registries to procedures performed in participating institutions
Target Audience
This program is intended for:
- NCDR Registry site managers and data coordinators who are interested in data integrity and data quality
- Nurses, physicians and managers who oversee operational and/or administrative processes of care for cardiovascular patients or who provide direct patient care
- Hospital administrators who want to learn how the NCDR can support their strategic goals
- Quality improvement professionals who lead organizational performance improvement efforts
- Technical personnel who are interested in integration, implementation and lifecycle maintenance of the NCDR database registries
Credit Information
Physicians
The American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The ACCF designates this live activity for a maximum of 19 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses
The American College of Cardiology Foundation is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC Provider number 0019).
The ACCF designates this educational activity for a maximum of 19 continuing nursing education contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
While offering credits noted above, the course is not intended to provide extensive training or certification in the field.

The NCDR Annual Conference has been planned by the NCDR.18 Curriculum Development Work Group and registry-specific planning work groups, each of which is made up of front-line participants, physicians and ACC staff. These multidisciplinary teams bring a range of expertise and viewpoints to the learning program.

The NCDR annual conference is all about unleashing the power of data. What better way to illustrate this than by telling real-life success stories? This year, NCDR participants submitted abstracts detailing stories of changes they implemented in their organizations – quality improvement projects, education approaches, innovative processes and research. Abstracts were selected to be developed into posters, which will be displayed and presented at the conference. Poster sessions always generate energy and excitement as authors generously shared their experiences and solutions.
