About the Oversight Committees

Together, Shaping the Future of Cardiovascular Care.

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) is proud to be a leader in setting the standard for excellence in cardiovascular care. At the heart of this mission are two key governance bodies — the NCDR Oversight Committee and the Accreditation Oversight Committee — each playing a vital role in advancing patient outcomes through data-driven innovation and continuous improvement.

NCDR

The NCDR (National Cardiovascular Data Registry) Oversight Committee provides strategic leadership for the ACC's suite of clinical data registries. Composed of nationally recognized clinicians, data scientists and health care quality experts, the committee ensures the NCDR remains a powerful engine for:

  • Improving outcomes across cardiovascular disease states
  • Supporting research, innovation and health equity
  • Driving hospital and health system performance through data transparency

ACC Accreditation Services

The Accreditation Oversight Committee steers ACC Accreditation Services, which support hospitals and health systems in meeting the highest standards of clinical excellence. This committee ensures each accreditation pathway — from Chest Pain Center to Heart Failure — delivers:

  • Evidence-based frameworks tailored to cardiovascular service lines
  • Tools for clinical process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Rigorous standards aligned with national guidelines and patient-centered outcomes

The committee also reviews performance metrics, market trends and stakeholder feedback to keep accreditation programs relevant, impactful and responsive to the ever-changing health care landscape.
