An Important Message for Hospitals Currently Seeking an ACC Accreditation or Certification

These are truly unprecedented times in health care. We realize the response to the COVID-19 pandemic is all-consuming for the health care community, and we recognize the incredible challenge hospitals and front-line workers are facing while providing lifesaving measures for their patients.

As you rapidly shift priorities to meet the demands placed upon your hospital's entire staff, we want to assure you that your ACC Accreditation Services team remains supportive given the present circumstances. As of March 9, we have suspended all on-site surveys and are providing additional options to help you achieve your facility's quality improvement goals.

Knowing that each of our nearly 1,000 accredited facilities is now in a unique situation that varies upon location, we have developed alternatives to address variable needs and resource capacities. Facilities may explore the following options:

  • Data: Suspend Accreditation Conformance Database (ACD) Data collection, if applicable, until further notice.
  • Criteria: Contact your ACC Accreditation Review Specialist (ARS) to discuss and review amended requirements.
  • Site Review: Options for flexible, virtual reviews scaled in length to account for facility demands.
  • Navigation: Continue along the established Accreditation pathway of data collection, criteria completion and site review. Discuss a timeline with your ARS that meets your facility's unique situation.

Your assigned ARS will contact you within the next two weeks to discuss these options, or you may reach out to them at any time for questions or additional assistance. You are the only person at your facility receiving this communication, so if need be, please share this information with other leaders as appropriate.

ACC Accreditation Services team and member leadership wishes to acknowledge the heroic efforts of all the health care professionals and front-line support staff who, regardless of great personal risk, are caring for patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Sincerely,

Bev Livezey, MBA, RN, AACC, CCCC
Director of Accreditation Clinical Products
and
Michele Wood, MSN, RN, CPHQ, AACC, CCCC
Director of Accreditation Field Operations
